Fourth man arrested in connection with Central West bikie gang murder

CENTRAL WEST, NSW, Australia - A 38-year old man appeared in court on Wednesday over the execution-style murder of a bikie gang chief in the Central West earlier this year.

The man had been arrested by Homicide Squad detectives at a home at Orange about 8.30am in Orange on Tuesday and taken to Orange police station where he was charged with murder.

He was refused bail ahead of his appearance at Orange Local Court on Wednesday.

A search warrant was subsequently executed at the home, where detectives seized a number of items relevant to the investigation.

Earlier this year, on 14 January, police and emergency services responded to reports a man had been shot at a property on Catombal Road, Eurimbla, about 70km northwest of Orange.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District arrived to find the body of a 60-year-old man inside the home. He had suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

The man has since been formally identified as Bandidos OMCG Central West Chapter President Shane De Britt (pictured).

A crime scene was established at the property and examined by specialist forensic officers.

The State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, assisted by Criminal Groups Squad and Orana Mid-Western Police District detectives, commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death under Strike Force Kerrison.

In the last month, strike force detectives have arrested three men aged 58, 39 and 22 at Dubbo and Wellington. All three were charged over their alleged roles in the shooting murder and remain before the courts.

The man who appeared in court on Wednesday is the fourth man to be arrested in the case.
